Days 27-33: DIY Hair Do

A great peso-saving quirky idea is to know exactly what you want to look like on your wedding day. To be fair, a lot of Western brides who opt for rustic barn weddings make it a point to have their "do" and make-up made by themselves.

Yes, in my vain effort to look for great ideas to shorten our expenses for our allotted budget, I've stumbled upon this great blog from a lady named Cinthia Truong. She has a fantastic sense of hair styling that the fashion goner in me felt hope will spark once I try and follow her lead. And so I did. Of course, my attempt to doing her "do" was a major fail but I'm not giving up on doing it allover again.

Thus, a week of hair styling for my 365 DIY challenge begun!

Day 27: Hair with a Twist. This style is perfect for that clean and chic cocktail look. Twisting the hair in this manner is super easy and unique. Goodbye common curls, hello twisted hair!

Day 28: Princess Wedding Do. Want to look like a Renaissance woman or a Medieval princess? Go ahead and try this braiding technique and hair puffing! This one is great for that elegant youthful look a bride hopes for on her wedding day.

Day 29: Bohemian Do. I, personally, am a huge fan of curls; however, I would want mine to be spiced up and not look that familiar. This tutorial seemed to be perfect for my penchant. The romantic bohemian braids prepared in this vid is really easy to follow. I'm yet to perfect the "do," though. *wink*

Day 30: Romantic Curly Bow. This will have to be my favorite style among the bunch. For one, it really looks sophisticated. Likewise, it looks lovely and unique!

Day 31: Quick and Easy Bun. A bride-on-the-go might want to have a quick and easy wraparound technique to utilize in styling her hair. This "do" is simple, yet it looks a tad bit complicated.

Day 32: Prom Bride. For those who want a fresh-looking "up-do," this tutorial is nothing but perfection. The braiding technique is really simple that this "do" is also great for the prom night look.

Day 33: Cute Top Hat Do. For those creative brides out there, try this mini top hat do with your very offbeat attire. Lovely!

Our Palette: Black and Yellow (Adorned w/ Gray and White)

We are less than a year out of time while we plan this whole "wedding" thing for January 2013. Honestly, our planning stage isn't going that well as I've been quite ill for the past weeks and Francis has remained busy with work. Thank God that Francis and I are not having any episodic drama that would further put the planning stage into more jeopardizing sitch than it already is at the moment.

To date, the reception has not yet been finalized but he and I are already targeting places within the Makati area. Definitely, Vinz and VJ Matias (P/V services) are on top of our list. Why? Well, frankly speaking, P/V is one of the most expensive musts in a wedding ceremony. The videos and photos will be the only ones available years after your big day (apart from your wedding ring) and they'll be the ones reminding you of that one special day. I'll definitely not miss having talented (yet affordable) artists on our wedding day.

One thing that's keeping my face from sulking is the fact and we're all set on the palette we'll be having for our day. Yes, people! We're all set on having a "black and yellow (adorned with gray and white) affair." Below are some inspirations for our selected motif:

The beautiful shades of gray and white are alluring and sophisticated.

The major palettes, on the contrary, are just stunning. The yellow hue gives out that lively vibe, which is set in contrast by the deep black hue--creating that magnanimous bright and playful energy.

Besides the colorful and amazing ambiance these colors give, I have a strong bias for these since they encompass the characteristics I have strong affinity with:

Yellow
They say yellow means jealousy and represents the radiance of the Sun. Bright and bursting. Thus, it's no longer a wonder that this color spells creativity, wit, positivity and clarity. With this hue, you are claiming your epicenter among others.

Black
Black is a whirlpool of depth. It is enigmatic and sensual. Black represents death and elegance. Both of these images are contrasting. Marriage, in its purest form, is a covenant (not just a union) that is bound to be the end and start of all other things. Pretty poetic if you'll ask me!

Gray
I would have to disagree with a lot of people in their saying that gray is pretty much dull and boring. To me, gray is fantastic! It is very conservative and mature. It does not look forced or coerced. The hue is a unique root grounding on its soil.

White
Of course, you cannot have a wedding without showcasing the purity of two love drunkards' passion. What's the essence of getting married and making vows of eternity if you do not have that stand on keeping the relationship trusting and faithful? Need I say more?

Oh these colors will definitely look fantastic. Now, we'll just have to keep everything in line with this unwavering choice of ours. 2012, please be better. *wink, wink*

Vintage as the New Fad

Every wedding has its story--and most couples, nowadays, prefer to retell stories not only known to them but are quite prosaic to many. For instance, many weddings are patterned after certain themes. Themes that are very common and easy to relate to.

Indeed, vintage and rustic weddings have emerged victorious in this sense. For one, the old classy theme makes every occasion extra fab.

After much thought, Francis and I decided on turning our special celebration into one heck of a vintage-DIY wedding. Yes, vintage with a kick of our style!

Precisely, we want this vintage feel:

Seeing everything pastel-like makes me wanna jump up and down!  The vintage touch is remarkably warm. It doesn't look grandiose and fake (in my honest opinion). It's very lax and off the bat. No need to elaborate the details or adorn everything with expensive items.

Old and used materials can be very inspiring wedding pieces:

Vintage is S.U.N.N.Y. like me and him. Vintage-rustic, however, is a bit difficult to pull off. You need the machination of Midas to turn everything exciting and fascinating! But with little fairy godmothers in the form of your friends, you'll have more than the necessary tools for perfecting your dreamy wedding.

The Search for the Perfect "DO"

I am not yet decided as to what hair-do I'll be having for our wedding but I've come across the following great finds.

Updo with vintage appeal

Clean and chic

Long and sassy

These are just lovely but I am unsure if they'll flatter me. At the moment, my hands are kept tied by all the wedding-related activities me and Francis are currently completing. I have to say, though, that a rustic-vintage DIY wedding is really challenging.

We hope we can pull it off. God! Thank you for giving me a loving partner.
