Wedding Planning 101: Where are We?

Wedding planning is something I am not familiar with. I am quite adamant, however, in having our wedding personalized--and when I say personalized, I mean it. My friends are saying that it'll be very difficult, but through finding  FemaleNetwork I realized that hiring one isn't that important if you have reliable friends on and off line.

The first question I had to face was whether or not I can do it. I've known a hefty amount of things from researching, but Francis and I have only visited a couple of places for canvassing. It's actually frustrating as it feels like forever to come across different opportunities and finalize suppliers.

Things I had realized in the duration of this planning stage include but are not limited to:
1. Photo/Video services are very expensive. Our budget for this one actually occupies almost a third of our financial pie.
2. Church fees are not generous. In fact, the fees are quite astonishing (but don't think that I'm complaining). I was just not that prepared in dealing with this hard-to-accept fact.
3. Reception scouting is really messy. You'll have to narrow your list down to places you can afford as you'll end up topsy-turvy. I, myself, have been battling with my own inkling as I find several reception areas to be quite tempting.
4. People counting is really tricky. As much as we would like to invite every acquaintance of ours, we just couldn't do that. Our budget is not enough to suffice for us to have all our friends and relatives come to our special day.
5. Wedding fashion and fads have gotten into my system. Trust me, I'm not the kind of girl whom you'll see wearing effeminate clothing and all dolled-up. I'm a mess. I like wearing sneakers and I wouldn't trade those for any sexy and ravishing pair of heels. Yet again, I cannot come to our wedding dressed as a man. To be honest, this posits a very threatening realization that I am such a loser when it comes to fashion.

Now, Francis and I are back to the drawing board. Geez, planning without a planner is really tiring but future husband and I are getting more talktime. Excited me likes this idea!
